Investors switching from telephones to computers
"bbn Newsletter", June 13, 2006

Banks and financial brokerage companies are improving systems of on-line trade in securities.
Hi-tech investors now get more services at lower prices. Association Spekuliantai has conducted a comparative study of such services.
“Since 2003, the number of clients dealing in securities on-line has been growing nearly two-fold each year,” Virgilijus Mirke, capital risk director of SEB Vilniaus Bankas has said.
Investor association Spekuliantai has also stressed that most deals are now closed over the Internet, phone
deals becoming extinct.
In the words of Valdas Petrutis, director Spekuliantai, speculators in stock are most concerned about the
time-efficiency of deals, the reliability and functionality of on-line trade systems, so a decision was made to do
a comparative study of such systems, involving over 200 testers.
“Most respondents have worked with several brokers, we believe the estimate to be objective,” Petrutis
stressed.
