Background information
SAF Tehnika is a designer, producer and distributor of microwave digital radio data transmission equipment used mainly by telecommunications operators for providing voice and data transmission as an alternative to cable channels. The company offers approximately 200 products comprising solutions for mobile and fixed network operators, Internet service providers, as well as state and private companies. The aim of the company is to provide wireless communications for data and voice transmissions at reasonable prices. SAF Tehnika believes that its success is based on a distinctive approach to research and development, flexibility and the ability to deliver high-value solutions at attractive prices.
Since its foundation in 1999, SAF Tehnika has succeeded in becoming an international player. The company provides an important part of the telecommunications infrastructure to customers in 84 countries worldwide. The company’s determined focus, strong technology resources and quality products allow it to compete successfully in its market segment with the largest integrated vendors - Ericsson, Nokia Siemens Networks and NEC.
BSNL, MTNL (India), PCTL (Pakistan), Vimpelcom, Tele2, Golden Telecom (Russia), Intertelecom (Ukraine), Impsat (Latin America) are among the mobile operators who have chosen SAF Tehnika to supply high-reliability wireless backhaul solutions in their networks.
To strengthen the product portfolio, in 2004 SAF Tehnika acquired a Swedish company Viking Microwave AB . In November 2008 an agreement on the buy-out of the capital shares was signed between SAF Tehnika JSC and a company registered in Sweden named "PROCOTECH" AB which represents the current management of SAF Tehnika Sweden AB. However, both companies will continue the cooperation in R&D of microwave data transmission equipment.
In March 2008 SAF Tehnika presented the new CFIP product line – SAF’s next generation 108Mbps microwave radio system.
